At our home in Devon…
…is where we’ve been crafting award-winning, artisanal ice cream and sorbets for over 30 years. Everything starts with the finest ingredients: South West cream, Belgian chocolate and delicious Italian fruit purees. Our extraordinary team of Gelaticians hand-fill over 40 extraordinary flavours of ice cream. Our purpose is simple, to bring joy and connection by creating the very best ice cream experiences that bring people together and create memorable moments.
Barke Farm – the perfect treat for dogs
Made with carrot, apple and banana, Barke Farm is the paw-fect treat for pooches whilst on their walks. You’ll see that a Barke Farm tub is wider than your average dog ice cream tub. That’s because we wanted to make it easier for dogs to get every last lick of their delicious treat.

Ice cream born in Exeter
A farmer’s wife sets up a small ice cream company called Yarde Farm. Shortly after, Tamar Valley Products acquires Yarde Farm and begins making the ice cream in Exeter.

We move to Plymouth
Outgrowing the original farm, we move to a new home in Plympton, just outside Plymouth, where we’re still proudly based today.

Acquired by Caterfood
Caterfood, a local South West wholesaler and long-time Yarde Farm customer, acquires Yarde Farm & Tamar Valley Products.

A milestone moment
We win our very first Taste of the West awards. Our Peanut Butter Ice Cream scoops Silver, with seven other flavours taking Bronze.

Joining Bidfood
Yarde Farm and Caterfood become part of the Bidfood family, opening the door to even greater opportunities.
